The first set of pictures are of my first real furniture project which is one of four jewelry boxes of my own design I made as Christmas gifts for family members. They are constructed from Walnut with Burl Walnut butterfly and key escutcheon inlay set in Birdseye Maple. The interior has a lift out tray, oval mirror, music box and key lock. The finish is natural with rub on polyurethane. This first project was I feel an excelent stepping stone from the standpoint that it presented me with many of the same challenges of construction that you would encounter in making a piece of larger furniture, dovetail corners, key lock mortise, hindge mortice, mirror inlay, wood inlay, finishing, etc.
