Primary wood: Peruvian Mahogany Secondary woods: Bass, Maple This Peruvian mahogany desk is my own design that utilizes many classic elements of the Chippendale style: ball & claw feet, acanthus leaf carvings on the knees, and the fan on the gallery door. The finish is Minwax red mahogany stain followed by Constantine's red mahogany paste wood filler. I then sprayed the surfaces with nitrocellulose lacquer sanding sealer and top-coated with about six coats of satin lacquer. A final rubout of the finish was with 600 grit wet-dry paper lubricated with turpentine. This was followed by a paste wax.
