Queen Anne Spice Cabinet by Gerald Lauchle — view 1

This 12-drawer spice cabinet was constructed from plans published in Chapter 30 of Franklin Gottshall's classic book, Reproducing Antique Furniture. The only changes I made were the substitution of trifid feet for the published Spanish-style feet of the cabriole legs, and the use of inlayed butt hinges for the published H-hinges. The finish is Minwax red mahogany stain followed by Constantine's red mahogany paste wood filler. I then sprayed the surfaces with nitrocellulose lacquer sanding sealer and top-coated with about six coats of satin lacquer. A final rubout of the finish was with 600 grit wet-dry paper lubricated with a mixture of 10% mineral oil in turpentine.
