This is carved in 2 inch thick basswood. 5" wide x 14" high. The design is loosely based on a plaster casting of a ribbon & fruit drop I found at Good Will for $3. I put 2 coats of shellac to seal the grain and put Cherrywood Varathane Gel Stain on the surface to give an antique look. I wiped most of the stain off the surface, but let it settle into the deeper areas of the carving to help bring out the depth and shadow.
