Based on a design in Chippendale's Director and an example built in the Thomas Elfe shop in 1770, Charleston, South Carolina. Mahogany with crotch mahogany and holly veneers. Hand blown glass, adjustable shelves, and hardware lost wax cast in Birmingham, England. The lower doors open to reveal silver drawers whose fronts are mahogany crotches matched to the outer doors. The cartouche is a carved basket of flowers. The flowers are an 18th century rose and cotton flowers and leaves. Over 95 separate pieces of five different kinds of mahogany make up the carving. The cabinet comes apart into seven pieces.
