Primary material - Mahogany Secondary material - Chestnut and poplar Design: Original concept for base and waist from Plate 12 page 87 Master Craftsman of Newport by Moses. Bonnet, broken arched pediment, rosettes, flame finials, cartouche from various Philadelphia pieces. Finish: Aniline dye, shellac (seedlac). and wax Many of you have heard me mention the clock that I have been working on. Well, it's finally finished. This was my first attempt at a high end piece. Actually other than a Windsor chair and shell cabinets on either side of my fireplace this is the first piece of furniture I have made. Learning to make shells, finials, a cartouche and stop fluted columns was really fun. All boards are hand planed and the moldings were made with H & R's, beading planes and scratch stock.
