Three Drawer Chest by Charles Phillips — view 1

Primary Woods: mahogany, mahogany veneer; curly maple, maple, mahogany and ebony inlay, kingwood cross-banding Secondary woods: poplar, Eastern white pine Finish: shellac (French polish) This chest is a scaled down version of a John and Thomas Seymour original appearing in Robert Mussey's The Furniture Masterworks of John and Thomas Seymour, the original having four drawers instead of three. The top and sides are from a single, wide board. There are five different bandings in the chest plus the kingwood crossbanding. The bone that forms the keyhole escutcheons came from my father?s cattle ranch in Arizona.
