Goddard-style chair, from drawings by Al Breed. Serpentine pierced splats. Traditional cotton batting and horsehair upholstery, covered by leather (as described by Micky Callahan in FWW.) I learned many helpful techniques used in constructing the chair from a class taught at the Peach State SAPFM chapter by Micky Callahan, who taught the class based on a New York version of the corner chair. Foremost among these is the anticipation of the resulting grain pattern which will occur when a thick piece of wood has curves cut into it. Finished with Waterlox wiping varnish and rubbed out with Liberon 4-0 steel wool and wax.
