Newport-Style Tall Case Clock

Newport-Style Tall Case Clock by Jay Stallman — view 1

This is a tall case clock of my own design, in the Newport style, rather than a reproduction of a particular piece. It was derived and modified from a combination of sources including plans kindly shared on the Plans page of the SAPFM web site by Ed Stuckey. The wood is curly claro walnut. The door of the center section is solid crotch walnut, with the Newport shell carved at the top. The secondary wood is pine. The face was hand painted by Kathi Edwards of Georgia, a clock dial painter, based on photographs of a family farm property. A horse jumping over a log was substituted for the usual rocking ship. The clock movement is from Greenlake Clock Co.
