Hepplewhite Bow Front Chest by Timothy McKibben — view 1

On a visit to New England I was tremendously inspired by seeing a number of fabulous Hepplewhite style chests in Portsmouth New Hampshire, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Historic Deerfield; I also used the Sack books and the Verna Salomonsky book for inspiration. I used parts of several different Hepplewhite chests as models. I made this piece while I was a student in the Furniture Program at Palomar College in San Marcos, California. This piece is a bow front chest and the drawer fronts are a bent lamination of pieces of resawn European Beech glued with Unibond 800. The pulls are from Horton Brass, locks are from Whitechapel.
