Newport Kneehole Desk by Alan Turner — view 1

Primary wood - mahogany, Secondary woods poplar, hard maple (large drawers) and quartered sycamore (gallery drawers). This desk was built from drawings made by George Slack from a desk likely built by Edmond Townsend which is part of the RISD Museum collection. It is the same desk which is on page 30 of the Michael Moses book, Master Craftsmen of Newport: The Townsends and Goddards. The exterior of the desk is per the drawing; but limited structural changes were made in the internal construction.
