Dimensions: Height: 41", Width at front: 22", Width at back: 15", Depth of seat: 16" The piece was made from the plans available from Phil Lowe at the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts. The piece is Cherry, with poplar used for the slip seat frame. Straight tenons were placed into angled mortises for the seat rails and lower stretchers. All joints are pegged. Period methods were used in the slip seat, although high density foam was used in lieu of horse hair. The finish is one coat of boiled linseed oil, followed by 8 coats of amber shellac.
